Ladles – Aug 11th – The Colony – Woodstock, NY
The Ladles show at The Colony in Woodstock, NY last night was terrific! I must admit I am a sucker for a good female three part harmony and these artists did not disappoint. The intimate venue provided the perfect background for the trio and their blend of folk, jazz, choral and American roots music. Less country than the Dixie chicks and more jazz influenced than the Roches, The Ladles bring their own distinctive style to the stage. They all have excellent song writing skills and offered up intricate and insightful original music written by the trio. The mix of guitar, fiddle and violin made for a broad richness of sound and each of them played their instruments with skill and savvy. Add all this together and it was a really enjoyable night of music for the audience. The Ladles are fiddler/singer Lucia Pontoniere, guitarist/singer Kate Martucci and banjoist/singer Caroline Kuhn. I highly recommend you catch them on their tour if you can!
