CeCe Peniston is an acclaimed American playback singer and former beauty queen who became one of the most successful dance-club artists of the 1990s. She shot to global fame with her 1991 powerhouse debut single “Finally,” which scored a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100, and hit No. 2 in the UK. Across her career, she achieved five No. 1 hits on the Billboard Dance chart within a three-year span. She won Best New Dance Artist and was named the No. 1 Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play Artist of 1994. She won three ASCAP awards for her debut work, including Song of the Year, Most Performed Song of the Year, and Pop Songwriter of the Year. She was honored with the Governor’s Key to the State of Arizona. She also performed for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican and at both presidential inaugurations for Bill Clinton.
