Fans packed Credit Union 1 Amphitheater to capacity last Friday night to enjoy rap icon Snoop Dogg’s . perform on what was an absolutely beautiful summer evening. There was hardly any open spaces even on the lawn seating area beyond the pavilion. Even before DJ Drama opened the evening’s entertainment, smoke filtered off the stage and engulfed the first dozen rows if seats.
First of the artists was Berner, who after starting out in the mixtape scene has found a place with Taylor Gang Records and full on in the rap scene. Warren G, Too $hort and Wiz Khalifa rounded out the rap all stars supporting Snoop on this tour.
Snoop Dog appeared to drive onto the stage in a ’64 Chevrolet ragtop, one hand on the wheel, the other holding his signature smoke. It’s been several years since he appeared on stage in Chicago and the fans let him know he was missed.
Concluding the evening, Wiz Khalifa and Snoop performed a duo set much to the delight of their fans. Hopefully Snoop Dogg will be a more frequent visitor to the Chicago stage! If you have a chance to catch this tour, do it, but get your tickets early as most dates will certainly be sold out!
