The United Center North lot became Country Music Central this past weekend with the arrival of Windy City Smokeout. The event, which drew tens of thousands of fans each day featured some of country music’s top acts, barbeque from restaurants from across the country and of course, some fine drinks to wash it all down. Cowboy hats and boots were the fashion choice items for the occasion.
Despite temperatures in the mid-90’s and several evacuations due to thunderstorms, the event organizers kept it all on track. The United Center which is home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks was open to provide shelter and a place to cool down when necessary.
The festival celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year and continues to grow, drawing not just local fans but is quickly becoming a travel destination. Most tickets sold out before the festival began.
Luke Bryan, Chris Lane, Megan Moroney, Carolyn Jones and Zak Brown were among the artists performing.
