Sammy Hagar’s 2024 “Best of Both Worlds” tour with special guest Loverboy features former Van Halen & Chickenfoot bandmates Michael Anthony on bass, along with guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani, and drummer Jason Bonham. Also included in the lineup is keyboardist Rai Thistlethwayte which completes the musical picture and is considered a secret weapon in the lineup, adding additional vocals, percussion and even extra guitar. This lineup has been praised for their chemistry and musicianship, paying tribute to Eddie Van Halen while injecting their own flair into the performances. The energetic performance and strong setlist spans Hagar’s extensive career.
The 21-song setlist includes a mix of Van Halen hits from both the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar eras, as well as songs from Hagar’s solo career and his time with Montrose and Chickenfoot. Notable songs performed include “Why Can’t This Be Love”, “Right Now”, “Poundcake”, “Mas Tequila” and Hagar’s solo hit “I Can’t Drive 55”.
The band’s camaraderie and the joy they share with the audience, created a vibrant and nostalgic atmosphere. Hagar’s vocal performance and stage presence, even at 76, is particularly commended, along with Satriani’s handling of Van Halen’s iconic guitar parts.
