RIPE & ALLEN STONE

The audience was waiting eagerly for RIPE to make their way to the stage.
The energy was palpable and spirits were high. The band came on with varsity
jackets like a football team at homecoming and they delivered cuts from their highly
anticipated new work “Play The Game”. And played they did. Cuts like “Letting
Go”, “Beige Suit”, “Affogato”, “Peacocks”, “Another One Bites The Dust “ (Queen
Cover), and “Downward” were just a few of the tunes played by the band and to be
sure the crowd was jumping and grooving t0 RIPE’s vibe and they scored big on
the homefront.
RIPE with frontman Robbie Wulfsohn, Jon Becker on guitar, Sampson
Hellerman on Drums, Delvin Barthel on Trombone, Yogi Saint-Louis on Bass
and Cade Gotthardt on Trumpet put on a show that was one for the charts and
they certainly were #1 on everyone’s hitlist by the end of the nite.
The open act this evening was a group from Washington DC called “Oh He
Dead”. They served up their own brand of Funk, Rhythm and Soul that was
certainly well received.
The act before RIPE coming was ALLEN STONE. Allen Stone delivered his
own brand of blue eyed soul and he is definitely a showman and has the audience
well engaged as he goes from song to song with a smooth delivery. At one point in
the evening Allen pitched his hat to an audience member who was having a
birthday. His sound is reminiscent of groups like Average White Band , Kool and
The Gang and KC and Sunshine Band. Allen did his rendition of “Is This Love”
a song made popular by Bob Marley and certainly places Allen Stone high on the
list of artists that made it their own with their style of song.
