Tower of Power At Tarrytown Music Hall
20 Nov 2022
What can you possibly say about a band that has a career that spans 50 plus years of jamming, touring, and basically laying it down for the masses time and time again. Tunes like “Down To The Nightclub”, “What Is Hip???”, “You’re Still A Young Man”, “So Very Hard To Go”, “Don’t Change Horses” and the list goes on and on as this band went through its paces at the iconic Tarrytown Music Hall to a packed house.
This band out of California has been at the top of their game ever since the term “FUNK & SOUL” was coined back in the mid-sixties. Music that has you jumping and jamming to the rhythm from the very first beat. Their horn section led by Emilio Castillo on Tenor Sax, and rounded out by the likes of “Doc” Stephen Kupka on Baritone Sax, Tom Politzer on Tenor Sax, David Garibaldi on Drums, Roger Smith on Keys, Adolfo Acosta on Trumpet, Jerry Cortez on Lead Guitar, Marc “VW” Van Wageningen on Bass, and rejoining TOP after returning to the Navy to the Navy Music Program is on Lead Trumpet, Trombone and Flugelhorn. Lead Vocals for the TOP sound is Singer Mike Jerel who as well as being the lead singer is a triple threat playing keys and Trumpet as well.
This band has a long illustrious career that brings back loyal fans anytime and anywhere they are playing. I for one remember the first time I heard them and then saw them, FAN FOR LIFE!!! 50 Years plus and still as funky, jamming, and popular as ever. SOUL Power by Tower of Power!!!!!
