The Village Trip

The Village Trip festival (thevillagetrip.com), included a free concert in Washington Square Park on September 29th.
The Village Trip is a new annual festival honoring the history and heritage of Greenwich Village.
Vicki Kristrina Barcelona glowingly opened the show. Rachelle Garniez, Amanda Homi and Terry Radigan, are 3 incredible multi-instrumentistal harmonizing vocalists dedicated to reimagining the music of Tom Waits.
Suzanne Vega followed http://www.suzannevega.com. “Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation”(Biography Magazine). She is a leading figure of folk music from back in the 80’s and continues to be the brilliant vocalist she has been for decades. Accompanying her was her guitarist, Gerry Leonard.Last on stage was Martha Redbone http://www.martharedbone.com and her band. Redbone is an American blues and soul singer fused with elements of traditional Native American music. Her soulful voice always blows me away. She was joined by David Amram for part of her set.

Liz Thomson, a London-based journalist, is the co-founder/executive producer of The Village Trip.
