Tank and The Bangas At Brooklyn Bowl
The evening started out as always, the crowd mingling and waiting patiently for the evening’s performers to come on. The opening act was a dynamic young woman named Ariel J. She set the tone for the evening with her own personal style of storytelling and smooth sultry vocals preceded by deep personal spoken words centering on positivity and forward thinking that had the audience head-nodding in unison as they connected with her message. Her stage presence was at once cool, calm and engaging and coupled with her vocals held her audience captive. When her set was done, the audience was primed and ready for the main act to come, but not before showing much appreciation and applause for Ariel J.’s delivery.
When Tank and The Bangas came on the audience’s energy took it up a notch and they were treated to the signature sound that transformed the Brooklyn Bowl into a New Orleans block party to be sure. Tarriona “Tank” Ball came with her energy and then some. Her ability to deliver a performance that is both theatrical and riveting is a mark of someone who has mastered their craft. She performed as always shifting easily from rapid-fire spoken word to smooth and funky R&B licks and topping it off with soulful and sultry sounds that had the entire room moving and grooving to the band’s rhythm.
Tank and The Bangas always deliver a performance that leaves everyone in attendance energized to be sure. The band’s ability to lock into the energy given back to them from the audience shows in their performance. The band members certainly played their hearts out for the audience. Taking the lead of course is Tank, and then her band members being Norman Spence on Keyboards and Guitar, Rob Kellner also on Keyboards, Ken Turner on Bass, Deven Trusclair on Drums, Etienne Stoufflet on Horn, and rounding out the sound is Raion Ramsey on Background Vocals. This band is always a treat to listen to and certainly a favorite of a great many people including yours truly. Until the next New Orleans block party!!!
