State Champs – Webster Hall in New York, NY December 8th
State Champs closed out their tour with two nights at the iconic Webster Hall in New York. Their final show on, Sunday December 8th, was packed with screaming fans and crowd-surfer’s for a night of Pop-Punk pandemonium.
The evening kicked off with a seven-song set from the super talented New York City based pop punk band Daisy Grenade, fronted by Keaton Whittaker and Dani Nigro. They opened with “Sick in the City,” “Are You Scared of Me Yet,” and “Guts.” The band also performed a rocking cover of Nirvana’s “Polly” and closed out their set with “Hypocrite.”
The show continued with a high energy performance by Meet Me at the Altar. They opened their seven-song set with “Say It (to My Face)” and “Now or Never”. Next they had the crowd create a female only circle pit for their performance of “Hit Like a Girl.” They treated the audience to a compilation of Jimmy Eat World’s “Sweetness,” New Found Glory’s “My Friends Over You,” and Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy.” Meet Me at the Altar finished up their set with “May the Odds Be in Your Favor” and “Kool.”
Knuckle Puck, the Chicago natives fronted by lead singer Joe Taylor, were next to take the stage. Their rocking twelve-song set opened with “Want Me Around” and “The Tower.” Joe’s energy was infectious, and you could feel the crowd reach another level to match him. They concluded with two of their biggest hits “Untitled” and “No Good.”
You could feel the anticipation swell as the lights dimmed and State Champs finally took the stage. The Pop-Punk band from Albany, NY kicked off their twenty-one-song set with “Silver Cloud,” “Losing Myself,” and “Mine is Gold.” The crowd joined in with Derek DiScanio and sang along the entire night. State Champs rocked a mashup of a few of their older songs: “Perfect Score,” “Frozen,” and “Fake It.” Their set also included “All You Are Is History,” “Remedy,” and “Elevated.” Daisy Grenade joined them on stage for “Around the World and Back;” Daisy Grenade sang the Jule Vera parts of the song. Joe Taylor of Knuckle Puck also came back out for “Save Face Story.” State Champs closed out the night with a two-song encore that included their hits “Everybody but You” and “Secrets” capped off with confetti.
