Samantha Fish At Brooklyn Bowl
Samantha Fish and her band played at Brooklyn Bowl to a packed
house as the crowd eagerly waiting for the band to begin their set.
Samantha is wrapping up her tour and Brooklyn was lucky to be on her list
of cities to play in before wrapping up her tour in New Orleans.
Samantha has certainly put her name on a long list of notable blues
artists and shows no sign of slowing down and is ever growing as
displayed by her fiery style of play and her vocals that range from hard
rocking blues and rock to a soft sultry sound that displays her well
rounded talent.
This powerhouse guitar player started her set with cuts from her newly
released album “Paper Doll”. Cuts like “I’m Done Runnin”, “Fortune Teller”
and “Dream Girl”. This album is a testament to her hard driving desire and
makes no apologies of her desire to be as good and she can be and also
highlighting her self assurance and strong standing as female in the blues
game.
Blues has always been about telling a heartfelt story or heartache,
longing, being knocked down, getting back up and getting knocked down
again but not every giving up the desire to make yourself known and your
feelings heard. On one of her tracks “Lose You” Fish lays the law down to
a non committal lover and lets it be known that from this point on she’s
calling all the shots. Woe onto that young man!!!!
The band was tight and then some. The hard hitting bass line as always
being orchestrated by long time band mate Ron Johnson on bass, Jamie
Douglass on drums and Mickey Finn on keyboards.
Watching and hearing Samantha Fish never gets old and believe you
me, it is always a visual treat and a heart thumping experience.
