To celebrate City Winery NYC’s 10 groundbreaking years on Varick Street, the venue is honoring the legacy of 10 renowned artists who performed at City Winery and are no longer with us.
On July 24, a tribute to the legendary Lou Reed was brilliantly led by Musical Directors, Lenny Kaye and Tony Shanahan.
Included in the line-up was Patti Smith (and her bandmates Tony Shanahan and Lenny Kaye), The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, New York Dolls’ David Johansen, The Feelies’ Glen Mercer, Marshall Crenshaw and Suzanne Vega.
They did an amazing job — the evening was flawless. Kudos also go to owner Michael Dorf, who introduced the show and noted that the new location, on Pier 57 at 15th Street, will open in early 2020.
