The Jubilee Tour featuring LĪVE and Stone Temple Pilots with very special guest Soul Asylum brought their energy and vocals to the stage in Holmdel, NJ. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of albums Throwing Copper by LĪVE and Purple by Stone Temple Pilots, both bands delivered the energy, nostalgia, and the opportunity to experience two iconic bands on one stage, sharing their musical legacies.

Soul Asylum opened the show with their alternative rock, post-grunge, heartland rock music which combines introspective lyrics with powerful guitar riffs. Their earlier work has more of a punk edge, while their mainstream success in the ’90s embraced more melodic rock and ballads. Their hit “Runaway Train,” which won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 1994 also produced a music video, which highlighted missing children, further elevating the song’s impact.

The setlist included:

Somebody to Shove

High Road

Black Gold

Runaway Train

April Fool

Stone Temple Pilots

One of the leading bands of the 1990s alternative rock movement, Stone Temple Pilots are known for their versatility, blending grunge, hard rock, and alternative rock with touches of psychedelia and even glam rock. Current members include brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), Eric Kretz (drums) and Jeff Gutt (lead vocals). Gutt is known for his powerful vocal range and stage presence, which mirrors the grunge-era spirit of the band’s earlier work while bringing his own energy and interpretation to their music. Since becoming the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots in 2017, Gutt has helped the band continue their legacy.

LĪVE emerged in the early 1990s alongside the grunge movement. Their sound is more polished and melodic than many grunge acts. They blend the rawness of alternative rock with a more accessible, mainstream appeal, which helped them cross over to a larger audience. Originating member Ed Kowalczyk’s voice is one of the defining elements of LĪVE’s sound. His range and ability to move from soft, introspective passages to soaring, impassioned vocals—gives the band’s music a dynamic quality.
