It was so much fun seeing Lee Ritenour last night at Fairfield Theatre Company’s Stage One space, an intimate space which was noted by Ritenour who said that he felt like he was playing in someone’s living room. Although some may not recognize his name, Ritenour has played with many big name musicians and bands, including Pink Floyd, George Benson, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and so many more way too numerous to mention here. Even though he is so sought after, Ritenour was down to earth and spoke to the audience as if they were old friends. And, many who have followed him for years, pretty much are. Before the show started I got a shot of the set list but I guess that was just a suggestion as they didn’t play many of the songs on the list. What they did play was wonderful. He and his band, Melvin Davis (Chaka kahn), bass, Giorgi Mikadze, keys, and Wes Ritenour on drums (yes, it’s his son) made the audience feel like we were in on the good time they were having playing the music together. It was a special show!
