Garry Tallent took the stage last night at The Five Spot in Nashville with the grin of a school boy out to have fun.
Using the night as a form of rehearsal, there was no set list. Song titles were pulled from slips of paper out of a bucket on stage and given to the band. And let’s talk about the band! A wickedly talented group of musicians, it consisted of members of Los Straitjackets and The Delevantes (to name a few). And the guests! Bill Lloyd joined vocals for the song they wrote together Say It Out Loud, Kristi Rose shared vocals on Charlene, Ants In Her Pants and the funny, yet heartbreaking, Stay Away and Fats Kaplin played Fiddle& Accordion.
Songs from Break Time shared the stage with Garry’s new album, More Like Me. Telling stories with the audience, laughing, and just having an all out good time, Garry seems ready to hit the road for a few shows in support of this new music.
The Delevantes were also given front stage for two songs. A class A rockabilly/Americana style act originally from NJ and now Nashville residents (same as Garry), they were a perfect blend of harmony and style.
