Friend of the Brothers: Feature Jaimoe

Tonite at the new SHU Community Theater in Fairfield, CT I was lucky to catch Friends of the Brothers, featuring one of those brothers: Jaimoe. This is a new venue for Fairfield and it has an intimate feel, contributing to this fun night.

Friends of the Brothers dedicated the night to the recent loss of Dickey Betts. This tribute, along with the slideshow of Allman Brothers photographs, added so much nostalgia to the celebration of the Allman Brothers music. Alan Paul added to this remembrance as he explained the history of some of the songs. It was perfect for him to do so because he wrote the book(s) on it. Literally… Brothers and Sisters: The Allman Brothers Band and the Inside Story of the Album That Defined the ’70s came out this past year.

But that was only a small part of the evening. Most of the time Andy Aledort (guitar, vocals), Junior Mack (guitar, vocals), Alan Paul (guitar), Lee Finkelstein (drums), Dave Diamond (drums), Craig Privett (bass), Mike Katzman (keyboard), and special guest Jaimoe (drums, of course) rocked the night to vibrant cheers from the audience.

All of this led to a wonderful evening of great Allman Brothers music that ended too soon.
