Men at Work is an iconic Australian reggae-influenced new wave band that achieved massive global stardom in the early 1980’s selling over 30 million albums. Shonen Knife is a pioneering Japanese alternative rock and pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Founded by sisters Naoko and Atsuko Yamano, the all-female trio is celebrated for their infectious, upbeat sound heavily influenced by 1960s girl groups, the Beach Boys, and early punk icons like the Ramones. They sing quirky, whimsical songs in both Japanese and English about simple pleasures like food, animals, and pop culture, earning them a massive underground following and famous 1990s alternative rock admirers like Sonic Youth and Kurt Cobain, who invited them to open for Nirvana. Over four decades later, they remain a beloved, high-energy global touring force with more than 20 studio albums under their belt.
