Bruce Hornsby brought his excellent band The Noisemakers to play at Shannon Hall on the Campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison on October 18. The occasion was a fundraiser and celebration for SuccessWorks, a project of the College of Letters and Science. SuccessWorks is an innovative career center launched this year to provide students of the College of Letters and Science resources for career development.
At the concert, Hornsby played several requests from the audience, many of whom have clearly been fans since his Grateful Dead days. The extended jam versions of each song were enjoyed as much by the band as the audience. The entire band took their cues from Bruce, and clearly had a great time. Hornsby’s band features John “JT” Thomas on keyboard, JV Collier on bass, Sonny Emory on drums, Gibb Droll on guitar, and John Mailander on violin and mandolin.
