Billy F. Gibbons laid some Texas rock and blues on a sold out audience at The Iridium in New York City on October 30. His current tour is in support of his recent solo album “Big Bad Blues.” Gibbons assaulted his audience with his signature blues riffs and his self-effacing comments. His band includes drummer Matt Sorum, guitarist Austin Hanks, and on some numbers, Elwood Francis on harmonica. The nineteen song set included Rollin’ and Tumblin’, Missin’ Your Kissin’, Hollywood 151, and Bring It To Jerome from the new album. They also delighted the crowd with some ZZ Top favorites like Thank You, Sharp Dressed Man, and La Grange and a rousing rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. The show was blues perfection.
